1 - My dog won't sit still....
Hello and welcome to my Blog!
I thought I'd write my first Blog around a few things I hear quite a lot from dog owners:
'My dog won't sit still long enough for a photo!'
'My dog gets very excited around people he/she doesn't know!'
'I can never get him/her to behave when I try to take a photo! '
'My dog can't be off lead!'

Are you one of the dog owners that is put off arranging a professional photo session for your dog, because you are worried he/she might not be on his/her best behaviour? Please don't be, and here is why:
The photos, no matter how mad or crazy your dog is, will show his/her personality and will be the ones you will fall in love with, regardless if your dog is sitting perfectly still or not.
You want photos that speak your dog's personality and true a character, whether that is running around in the park, playing with a ball, jumping into water or just going for an easy stroll through the woods. I found time and time again that these are the photos that stand out to the dog's owners and are the ones they can really recognise their pet in.

Of course, I also have a whole arsenal of tips and tricks to get the most out of your session. I recommend taking your dog for a walk before a photo session and if they are very high energy, get them to run around and play to tire them out a little bit, but make sure you have plenty of time to clean them up again if necessary.
If your dog isn't sure about other dogs or new environments, I would recommend doing the photo session at a quiet location that your dog knows well, or even in your garden.
Is your dog not good off lead, no problem, we'll keep him/her on the lead and I will remove the lead in Photoshop after the session.

At the start of the session I will always make sure your dog gets used to me and my camera. My bag of treats can help with this as well. Once your dog is comfortable having me around, we can dive in, start the session and have fun.
Of course, we'll want your dog to sit or at least stand still for a little moment, to capture some beautiful portrait photos. Rest assured, I will always manage to catch these moments. I love a challenge, have a lot of patience and am very quick with the shutter button.
So, please don't worry about your dog not being on his/her best behaviour, embrace their personality, relax (the more relaxed you are, the more your dog will relax) and most important of all, enjoy the experience.

Having grown up with dogs and horses, I understand how important they are as family members, they will always have a special place in our hearts. Sadly, as we all know, nothing is eternal, so the photographs I take, will one day bring great comfort to their owners and create forever lasting happy memories.
